The Best Western Marks Tey Hotel is situated off the A12, 4 miles from Colchester, Britain's oldest recorded town. The hotel is owned and operated by Paten Hotels. Paten Hotels are a family owned company and own and operate three other hotels in Bedford, Stratford upon Avon and Portsmouth.

History

The Best Western Marks Tey Hotel was built in 1972 as a motel operated by Revilo Inns.

In 1976 the motel was purchased by Paten Hotels.

During the 1980s Paten Hotels carried out extensive renovation to the hotel and further extended the hotel's facilities in 1996 with the construction of the Lifestyle Health and Leisure Club.

The hotel benefited from further investment in 2005 / 2006 with the extension and refurbishment of of the Lounge Bar and Restaurant.

The Best Western Marks Tey Hotel remains owned and operated by Paten Hotels, a family owned company operating since 1898.
