The Best Western Marks Tey Hotel is a licensed venue for Civil Ceremonies in Colchester, perfect for your special day.

You can get married at the hotel and then enjoy a fabulous reception in one of the two function suites. Being a hotel we can also accommodate your guests which means that travelling on the day is kept to a minimum.

The Room Hire charge (payable to the hotel) is dependent on the room booked, the day of the week and whether you are having the reception at the hotel.  The Claudius Suite and Balkan Suite are only available on Saturdays for weddings also booking a reception in the hotel.

Civil Ceremony Guidelines

• Once you have made your provisional booking with the hotel you will need to contact the Superintendent Registrar at Colchester on telephone: 01206 572926 to confirm the ceremony.
• All the arrangements for the Civil Ceremony are confirmed by the Registrars Office.
• All Civil Wedding Ceremonies must be carried out between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm
• No food or drink may be consumed in the designated room for 2 hours prior to or during the ceremony.
• No photographs may be taken during the ceremony
• Use of video during the ceremony is permitted provided the prior arrangements have been made with the Superintendent Registrar.
• Any readings, music words, etc. must be agreed by the Superintendent Registrar prior to the ceremony.
• All fees relating to the Civil Ceremony are directly payable to the Registrar
